The Chinese’s company OnePlus has launched their new smartphone, the OnePlus X, which will soon be available worldwide. After success of OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 (sort of), OnePlus has got down in the market with new thinking from the company’s perspective. Consequently, the company has made available two variant of this phone, an Onyx variant priced at Rs. 16,999 and a limited edition Ceramic variant at Rs.22,999. The product will soon be available on Amazon India, you can only buy the phone if you have an invitation, the company will provide only 10,000 unit of the limited edition ceramic variant in globally. The onyx variant will launch on November 5 and the ceramic variant on November 24.
OnePlus X introduced to those android lovers who want to buy the company’s flagship device because of their specification but due to high price they are unable to buy, so OnePlus brought a phone with lot of features and affordable price.
Design & Display
The OnePlus X looks much better than both OnePlus One and the Oneplus Two. The company previously focuses only in specifications and performance and used plastic in the old devices but this time OnePlus has come up with something new, the frame of OnePlus X is made from aluminium which makes it much stronger and it looks like a premium device.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the company has paid special attention to its design but if you compare it to its equivalent price phones so it’s not good enough. OnePlus X is mere 6.9 mm thick and the phone feel very handy in the palm due to its perfect dimension which is 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm.
If we talk about its weight, OnePlus X is much lighter than its older generation phones, the weight of Onyx variant is 138 gram and 160 gram for the Ceramic variant. OnePlus X is using a beautiful 5-inch AMOLED display and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
Hardware & Software
OnePlus X is a dual SIM smartphone that runs on Oxygen OS 2.1.2 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. OnePlus X is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which is clocked at Quad core 2.3 GHz along with Adreno 330, with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16 GB internal storage and if you want to fill lot of data on the phone so you can extend it up to 128 GB space with micro SD card. In terms of connectivity, the phone provides Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Unfortunately, there is no NFC in the phone.
The metallic frame of this smartphone seems like iPhone. OnePlus X is made of aluminium with 17 micro cuts for improving its look and easy grip. The smartphone provides dual speakers on the bottom side along with a Micro-USB 2.0 port. The power button and volume control buttons are located on the right side and the 3.5 mm jack on the top.
The first thing in every users mind is that the battery of their phone should be good and they don’t want their phone on charging point all the time, so the company incorporates a non- removable Li-Po 2525 mAh battery in the phone but it’s not good enough, if we talk about its competitive phones like Moto X Play, which has the non-removable 3,630 mAh battery.
Camera
Primary camera of OnePlus X is 13 MP which capture pictures at a resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels with LED flash and an f/2.2 aperture and auto focus phase detection which can record video in 1080p. OnePlus has brought some improvement in the front camera which is 8 MP with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture which is good enough for selfies.
The camera software is not good enough, it seems like Google camera software which is too far from user friendly because there aren’t many features for taking photo like Samsung devices but the image quality of OnePlus X is going to be pretty good, especially the front camera is better than their older devices and which is made for those who are crazy for taking selfies. The images are good when you take shots in dark place so you can take snaps of the different lighting situations and we can say that the overall performance of the OnePlus X camera is pretty good.
Verdict
OnePlus X has good feature for a budget phone and it is running very smooth when you work in it. The phone is designed to the customers looking for a company’s flagship device but due to high price of OnePlus Two they can’t afford it.
However, OnePlus X isn’t keen for the customers who spend too much time with the phones because nowadays there are also many options of the available in the market like Moto X Play, Moto X 2nd Gen, Samsung phones which are the solid competitor of the OnePlus X. One of the biggest problem in the OnePlus phones is their irritating invite system, without which you cannot buy their phones.
