
Yesterday, Micromax came up with their new smartphone, Canvas Mega, in India which is priced at Rs. 8099. Recently Micromax has also launched Canvas 5 for Rs. 11,999 which sports a 3GB RAM. Micromax Canvas Mega is an entry level Android phone that lacks 4G bands and runs on Android Lollipop with the option to use two SIM. The phone has already been spotted on eBay in grey colour.
Canvas Mega has 5.5 inches IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by MediaTek octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz with Mali 400 GPU. It has only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of phone memory, though it comes with an external memory expansion up to 32 GB via microSD card.
The primary camera of Micromax Canvas Mega is 13 MP while the front facing camera is 5 MP. It does have LED flash, Geo-tagging, Autofocus and FHD Recording. The other features include Bluetooth, GPS, GPRS, WiFi, FM radio and micro USB port.
The phone has 2820 mAh battery to power up the 5.5-inch screen which is capable of providing 10 hours of talk time.

The other phones that can be considered at the similar price are Moto G 2nd gen, Lenovo K3 Note and YU phones. At a price of Rs. 8099, Canvas Mega doesn’t seem to be a great deal especially when it comes to RAM and processor and the absence of 4G support.
